Central Bhutan Tour

Bhutan is perhaps the most mysterious and diverse of all the Himalayan kingdoms, where for centuries a traditional Buddhist culture has thrived in isolation from the rest of the world. It is a land of contrast - with lush forested valleys, fortified monasteries, sacred mountains, art and architecture unique to the region.

Our journey encompasses all that Bhutan has to offer taking in the 'must see' highlights of both western and central Bhutan This Central Bhutan tour will take you deep into the heart of the beautiful Bumthang valley, considered to be the Switzerland of Bhutan. We begin with a flight to Paro with great views of the Himalayas and upon landing we head straight to Thimphu, the capital town where we spend two nights visiting the local markets and appreciate the monasteries and forts that reflect the deep cultural heritage of this remarkable Buddhist kingdom. We then venture out into the countryside to visit the beautiful Punakha, Bumthang and Gangtey Valleys. En-route we cross three high mountains passes; Dochula at 3,100m, Pelela at 3,300m and Yotongla 3,400m. Here we explore the rural lifestyle and architecture of Bhutan before returning to Paro where, on one of the highlights of our tour, we visit Taktsang (the Tiger's Nest) - a small monastery clinging to a rocky cliff 900m above the valley floor.

We return back to Kathmandu with great photos to give us a lasting memory of this Himalayan Kingdom.
