The Kingdom of Bhutan is one of the worlds little know treasure. Here in the 'Land of the Thunder Dragon', quality of life is measured in terms of 'Gross National Happiness' rather than in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or purely material measures, and this is the only country to do so in the world.
We start the journey by taking a flight by Druk Air, the only airlines operating in Bhutan and also the national carrier of Bhutan. This 50 minutes flight to Paro gives us spectacular views of the Himalayas. Upon landing and completing the visa formalities we drive to the capital city Thimpu. From here we head towards Easter side of Bhutan and you will be surprised at the diversity of its vegetation in this tiny Kingdom as we pass through the small town and villages of Punakha, Phobjikha, Jakar. As we enter central Bhutan with its unspoiled and lush green tropical forest we get magnificent views of Himalayan ranges from the passes we cross Dochula Pass, Pelela Pass (3,300m) and the highest of all Yothongla Pass 3,400m to arrive at Jakar. From here we start the trek and en-route we sets camps at the laps of the massif Himalayas surrounding us. After the trek the return back journey to Paro the awe-inspiring views will delight us at every twist and turn.
The friendly hospitality of the Bhutanese people, its culture and tradition along with the great views make this in every sense a voyage worth taking.
