Lhasa & Everest Base Camp Tour

Tales of magic and mystery have long attracted travelers to Tibet and today the lure of this once forbidden land remains strong. Fascinating culture, magnificent monasteries and awesome mountain scenery combine to make this journey one of the most spectacular in the world.

This is a classic tour visiting the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu then flying into Lhasa the ‘Forbidden city‘ and then visiting the Everest Base  camp (north) where we get great views of the Mt. Everest. The Tibetan name for Mt. Everest is "Quomolangma" which literally means "The Third Goddess".

This tour is a cultural feast of highlights both in Lhasa and on the Tibetan plateau. We start the journey by taking the classic flying in to Gongaar airport and driving to Lhasa. In Lhasa we visit the unforgettable landmark of the city, Potala Palace with its incredible architecture and history. Explore the fascinating bazaars and alleysthronged with pilgrims who have converged from all over the country to prostrate themselves at the sacred shrines of the Jokhang Temple, Tibet's holiest site, walk around the Barkhor, the sacred circumambulation route around the Jokhang Temple, visit the monasteries of Drepung and Sera with its exuberant activities both within and around the monastery. Leaving Lhasa behind, we pass over five high passes before leaving the plateau, which takes us through the dramatic, yet breath taking landscape of snow-capped mountains, by the serene turquoise waters of Yamdrok Lake, and through villages and small nomadic settlements. We will visit Gyantse - Kumbum chorten, with its extraordinary paintings and sculptures dating back to the 15th century, and Shigatse - where we stroll around the intriguing complex of the Tashilhumpo Monastery. An undeniable highlight is the journey to Rongbuk valley to see the sun rise over the majestic north face of Everest. The final leg of our extraordinary journey descends through an impressive gorge, then winds through the terraced hillsides of Nepal to Kathmandu.
